A Brief Introduction To Bakhtiar Rugs (Part 4)

As with all popular designs, workshops in Iran eventually began to make their own sophisticated versions of the Bakhtiar, and as the Moghul rulers spread the art of carpet weaving to the Indian subcontinent, so too did workshops in South Asia.
These Bakhtiar designs can be found in different textures and weaves. For example, pure silk Bakhtiars from Iran can be found with knotting of up to 800 knots per square inch. In addition, weavers in Pakistan make the Bakhtiar designs with wool piles and cotton bases, with up to 400 knots per square inch and with very detailed, intricate patterns.
